Bitrina Diyamett is a researcher and a consultant in science, technology and innovation policy. She holds an M.ADegree in Science and Technology Policy from Lund University, Sweden (1993); and a PhD in Development Studies, University of Dar es Salaam (2010), with PhD thesis on Inter-organizational linkage and firms’ innovativeness in least developed countries: the case of metal and engineering sector in Tanzania.

Her most recent consultancies include Innovation Systems and Cluster Initiatives: Strategic Evaluation of a Sida Portfolio (2010), with Amitav Rath of Policy Research International (PRI), Canada; and Assessment of the capacity and uptake of agricultural research in Tanzania (2011), with Andrew Coulson, University of Birmigham, Uk; funded by the International Growth Center (IGC). She served on the NEPAD’s Expert’s Working Group on Africa’s Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators (ASTII) - April -August 2005. She was subsequently co-opted by Research Policy Institute (RPI), Lund University, Sweden as a Faculty member for the training course on Africa’s Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators, organized by NEPAD in consultation with RPI.

Bitrina was among the resource persons for the course on the Design and Evaluation of Science, Technology and Innovation Policies in developing Countries organized by UNU - MERIT, 22-26thFebruary 2010, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
