2016 Annual Research Dissemination Workshop

On the 30th September 2016, STIPRO held its annual research dissemination workshop at Ubungo Plaza. Innovation in Africa: A reflection on status, policies and research

Dr. Bitrina Diyamett, ED of the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Research Organization (STIPRO), and President of the AfricaLICS (African network on Economics of Learning, Innovation and Competence Building Systems).

Recently spoke at the Innovation Conference Ghana-2016 - ICG 2016 that took place on the 27th and 28th of September, 2016. The conference was aimed at building innovation capabilities of Africa, mobilizing champions of innovation from policy institutions, the private sector, academia (research institutions, universities and polytechnics), international organizations and civil society organizations, with the major objective to discuss state of the art of innovation in West Africa, and Africa in general, and chat way forward.

The title of Dr. Diyamett’s speech is “Innovation in Africa: A reflection on status, policies and research”, focusing on the industrial and agricultural sectors, Dr. Diyamett painted a rough picture of the innovation status in Africa; also discussing the status and challenges surrounding two major enablers of innovation, namely policy and research.
