Strategic planning workshop and Roundtable Discussion on FDI and Local Technological and Innovation Capacity building, held successfully.
On 30th June the Science Technology and Innovation Policy Research Organization (STIPRO) held a stakeholders’ workshop to discuss its five years strategic plan with the aim of fine-tuning its research agenda.
The following day, 1st of July 2014, in collaboration with the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), STIPRO held a roundtable discussion for stakeholders on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and its contribution in local technological and innovation capacity building to Tanzania. The roundtable discussion focused on productive sectors of the economy which included agriculture, manufacturing, and extractives.
The event brought together local and international scholars, high profile government officials from Tanzania Investment Centre, Ministry of Agriculture, Economic Processing Zones Authority (EPZA), Ministry of Information Science and Technology, Ministry of Energy and Minerals. International organizations, UNIDO and African Development Bank were also represented.
